Mountain of the Dragons

South Africa’s mightiest mountain range with its spear-like peaks – reminiscent of the saw-toothed spine of a gigantic dragon.

A PHOTO STORY
DRAKENSBERG WILDERNESS
7 DAY SOLO HIKE
RIVER VALLEYS – KAMBERG TO GIANTS CASTLE

During September 2016 I decided to do yet another 7 day solo hike through the magnificent Drakensberg Wilderness. My objective this time was to explore the river valleys lying between Kamberg and Giants Castle. It is pure untouched wilderness hiking and I had the time of my life! Here are some photos taken on the various days. Space unfortunately prevents me from placing more photos.

Day One – Kamberg, up Game Pass Valley, follow river to Nzinga River

Day Two – Explore River Valleys

Day Three – Explore River Valleys

Day Four – To the Mfulankomo River Valley and up to The Sisters at altitude

Day Five – Source of Ncibidwana River down the River Valley

Day Six – Ncibidwana Valley to Meander Stream Junction

Day Seven – Meander Stream to source basin and on to Giants Castle Camp

We as hikers, explorers, and adventurers have the absolute duty to respect and protect our Wildernesses. Nobody else will do it for us. Take ownership!

The End.

Safe Hiking.
