COBHAM WILDERNESS

DRAKENSBERG

A PHOTO JOURNEY

I have recently returned from a hiking trip (27 January 2016) to Cobham Wilderness in the Southern Drakensberg. Cobham is an absolute hiker’s paradise and well worth a visit.

Cobham is easily accessible by vehicle and is 13 kilometers away from the town of Himeville. The dirt road leading to Cobham from Himeville is in a very good condition and suitable to any type of vehicle. Cobham Reserve offers only camping.

Cobham was established in 1959 by the Department of Forestry and has been administered by EKZN Wildlife since 1988. The reserve is managed with Vergelegen to form one management section of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park of approximately 52 000 ha in extent. It offers much to the walker and dedicated hiker.

Go there, you will find Paradise!
